What are amino acids?

Amino acids are organic compounds that combine to form proteins.

Amino acids are classified into three groups:

Essential Amino Acids:

Essential amino acids cannot be made by the body. As a result, they must come from food.

Nonessential Amino Acids:

Nonessential amino acids mean that our bodies produce an amino acid, even if we do not get it from the food we eat.

Conditional Amino Acids:

Conditional amino acids are “conditional,” which means that a person may require them in certain situations, like in times of extreme trauma or stress from injury. As a result of these demands, the body’s supply of nonessential amino acids must be provided by the diet. Arginine, glutamine and cystine are examples of conditionally essential amino acids that have been combined with other nutrients in supplements formulated for healing.

How does amino acids benefit me?

Amino acids are the building blocks of protein, and in turn, protein is an important building block of every cell in the human body including your bones, muscles, cartilage, skin and blood. Along with fat and carbohydrates, protein is a “macronutrient”, meaning that the body needs a significant amount of it. The basic structure of protein is a chain of amino acids.

So, in essence, amino acids are the building blocks of life.

When proteins are digested or broken down, amino acids are left. The human body uses amino acids to make proteins to help the body:

Break down foodGrowRepair body tissuePerform many other body functions

Amino acids can also be used as a source of energy by the body.

There are 21 amino acids that your body naturally produces from compounds found within the human body. However, nine of these are essential amino acids, meaning your body can’t create them and they have to be consumed.

What are the nine essential amino acids?

Essential amino acids consist of Leucine, Isoleucine, Valine, Histidine, Methionine, Phenylalanine, Lysine, Threonine and Tryptophan.

Does Zurvita’s Amino Acids product include these nine essential amino acids?

Yes, with the exception of Lysine (most people already get enough of this through meats, dairy, soy, beans and fish). Our amino acids include eight essential amino acids in addition to conditional amino acids, Glutamine and Arginine.

Our supplement also includes Vitamin B12 and Magnesium which both help aid in many processes in the body as well. This includes:

Supporting bone healthImproving mood and energyEnhancing exercise performanceMaintaining healthy skin and hairPreventing major birth defectsImproving symptoms associated with PMSRegulating muscle and nerve functionControlling blood sugar levels and blood pressureReducing inflammationRelieving migrainesImproving insulin resistanceAiding in the formation of red blood cellsBenefiting the brain in association to memory loss

What will happen if I do not include essential amino acids into my diet?

If your daily diet does not consist of a significant amount of high-protein foods like meats, beans and nuts, as well as in greens such as spinach, brussel sprouts and asparagus, it can lead to inhibition of protein synthesis in the body. This can have a wide range of subsequent health effects. Amino acids are obtained from the break-down of protein in the diet, so a diet deficient in protein can impact on essential amino acid intake.

What makes Zurvita’s Amino Acids better for me?

Can Zurvita Amino Acids be taken every day?

Yes, Zurvita Amino Acids is safe to take daily.

How much amino acids does the average person need daily?

The U.S. recommended daily allowances per 2.2 pounds (1 kg) of body weight for the nine essential amino acids are:

Histidine: 14 mgIsoleucine: 19 mgLeucine: 42 mgLysine: 38 mgMethionine (Cysteine): 19 mgPhenylalanine (Tyrosine): 33 mgThreonine: 20 mgTryptophan: 5 mgValine: 24 mg

Are there any negative effects of consuming amino acids?

Amino acids consumed in excess of the amounts needed are not stored but are degraded. When amino acids are not utilized directly as sources of energy, they are converted to carbohydrates or fat.

When your body has too much of amino acids, it can cause your kidneys to work harder to maintain balance, gastrointestinal distress (such as bloating), abdominal pain, diarrhea, joint inflammation, unhealthy drop in blood pressure and changes in eating patterns.

Talk with your doctor if you plan to follow a diet that’s very high in protein or one that includes additional amino acid supplements for any reason.

Do I have to exercise when I take amino acids?

No. You don’t have to exercise to feel the benefits of amino acids. They can be taken daily as simply a dietary supplement by individuals with dietary concerns, athletes or those simply looking for an additional boost. People often turn to amino acid supplements to help provide their bodies more of these essential building blocks for a healthier life.
